Cookie Policy
What the site currently loads, what we plan to use, and how choices must work before tracking is enabled.
Last updated: 12 October 2026
Draft for review. This is a general-information template, not legal advice. Meta and Google analytics/advertising products have not yet been specified or installed in this site. A live cookie audit, complete service inventory and appropriate consent or objection controls are required before activation.
1. Who this policy is for
This policy covers the EnergyAdvise website operated under the name EnergyAdvise.co.uk. Contact us at support@energyadvise.co.uk or write to 71-75 Shelton Street, London, WC2H 9JQ.
Read this alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains personal-data processing and your rights.
2. Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small files stored on a device by a website. Similar technologies can include local storage, pixels, tags and techniques which access information on a device. They can support functionality, measure visits or track advertising interactions.
UK PECR rules apply to storage and access technologies, not only files called cookies. UK GDPR also applies where the information processed is personal data.
3. The current website
The current website’s own page code does not set first-party cookies, use local storage or embed Meta or Google analytics/advertising tags. Its small menu script opens and closes navigation without storing a preference.
Google Fonts is loaded externally. Your browser requests font styles and files from Google to display our typefaces. This can disclose technical request information, including your IP address and browser information. It is an external network request, not a Meta or Google advertising tag. See Google’s Privacy Policy.
The published hosting environment and any separately added tools must be checked for additional cookies or device access. A statement about the current page code is not a complete audit of hosting services, browser behaviour or a future funnel on another subdomain.
4. Planned Meta and Google tools
We intend to use Meta and Google services for marketing or measurement. The exact products, settings and cookie names have not yet been confirmed. We therefore do not list assumed cookie names or expiry periods as if they are already deployed.
Before those services are enabled, this policy and the user-choice interface must identify:
- the exact product and provider;
- each cookie or other storage/access technology and its purpose;
- whether it is first-party or third-party, and its duration;
- information collected and parties receiving it;
- the relevant consent requirement or specific statutory exception; and
- how to refuse, object, change a choice or withdraw consent.
[Meta and Google product names, cookie inventory and durations to be completed after configuration and a live audit.] No tracking identifiers or tags have been added as part of these legal pages.
5. Consent and statutory exceptions
Storage or access is prohibited unless valid consent or a relevant PECR exception applies. Consent must be an informed, freely given, specific and unambiguous positive choice. Continuing to browse or merely reading this policy is not consent.
Advertising and behavioural-tracking uses normally need prior consent. Where consent is required, those tools must remain off until you choose to allow them. Rejecting optional tracking must be straightforward, and withdrawal must be as easy as giving consent.
PECR, as amended, also contains limited exceptions, including communication, strictly necessary, qualifying statistical purposes, appearance preferences and emergency assistance. The statistical and appearance exceptions have specific conditions, including clear information and a simple, free means of objecting. We do not assume a Meta or Google tool qualifies merely because it is labelled “analytics”.
See the ICO’s current guidance on storage and access technologies for an explanation of these rules.
6. Managing your choices
There is no optional-tracking consent manager on the current site because the planned tracking tags are not installed. Before activating them, EnergyAdvise must provide functional controls to make and revisit choices, record any required consent, and prevent disallowed tags from loading.
You can use browser settings to view, block or remove cookies. Blocking storage may affect some website functions. Browser settings do not replace our duty to provide the required information and obtain any necessary consent before using a technology.
You can also manage advertising preferences through Google My Ad Centre and your Meta account’s advertising settings. Those provider settings do not replace your choice about tracking on this site.
7. Updates and contact
We will update this policy when tools or purposes change and seek fresh consent where required. The date at the top shows the latest version. A future quiz or funnel, including one on a subdomain, must be audited and covered by an accurate notice before it collects data or enables tracking.
Questions or objections can be sent to support@energyadvise.co.uk.
